Aug. 13

There were two vehicle thefts reported, and zero vehicles were recovered on this day.

Woman pepper-sprayed: At 3:02 p.m. on 32nd Avenue South, there was a report of a physical assault. The victim was a transient female who was pepper-sprayed by an unknown female transient. The suspect chased the victim and sprayed the victim. An employee at the listed location was also affected by secondary exposure to the pepper-spray. The suspect was gone on foot when police arrived and was described as a 30-year-old female with brown hair. Security stated they would speak to the building owners to try to obtain video footage. Both the victim and employee were provided aid by South King Fire.

Juveniles followed at Wild Waves: At 4:51 p.m. at Wild Waves Theme Park, there was a report from two juveniles who said there were a few other juveniles following them around. The juveniles advised that they last saw the group following them a couple of hours ago. Officers performed an area search for the juveniles and were unsuccessful.

Aug. 14

There were zero vehicle thefts reported, and zero vehicles were recovered on this day.

Robbery: At 3:41 p.m. in the 100 block of Southwest Campus Drive, officers were dispatched to a strong-arm robbery. After the investigation, the suspect was arrested for second-degree robbery.

Aug. 15

There was one vehicle theft reported, and zero vehicles were recovered on this day.

Civilian hit-and-run: At 7:21 a.m. in the 29000 block of Military Road South, the reporting party was walking from his home to Safeway when a dark grey Toyota minivan was pulling out of Camelot Square. The Toyota failed to yield to pedestrian traffic when it struck the reporting party. The reporting party suffered minor injuries, including bruises and scrapes on his right forearm and hip. When the reporting party returned to his feet, the driver of the Toyota sped off heading northbound on Military Road South without identifying himself or providing insurance information. The driver was described as a 60- to 70-year-old man with short-cropped grey hair and liver spots. Cameras in the area were checked, and no information of note could be gathered. The case is inactive pending further leads.

Woman hitting cars with umbrella: At 10:51 a.m. in the 31000 block of Pacific Highway South, there was a report of a female yelling and hitting parked vehicles with an umbrella in a store parking lot. Officers arrived on the scene and spoke to the reporting party. The reporting party confirmed the woman’s description, and she was located about a block away. She was detained and found to have a warrant out of Renton. She was arrested and transported to SCORE jail.

Catalytic converter stolen: At 4:17 p.m. in the 35000 block of 16th Avenue South, there was a report from a man who said he parked his vehicle and when he returned from lunch, he discovered his catalytic converter was stolen. His vehicle sits high, which makes it a lucrative target. The victim said that he will personally look for video footage and send anything over he finds of evidentiary value. There were no viable suspects at the time of the report.

Stolen car arrest: At 7:39 p.m. in the 1700 block of South 340th Street, there was a report that officers performed a traffic stop on a vehicle with no plates. The vehicle returned as stolen, and after investigation, the driver was arrested.

Aug. 16

There were zero vehicle thefts reported, and zero vehicles were recovered on this day.

13-year-old assaults parent: At 3:46 a.m. on Pacific Highway South, there was a report that officers were dispatched for a domestic violence report. The reporting party stated that his 13-year-old choked him and threatened him with a knife. The suspect, a juvenile, was gone on arrival.

Robbery: At 5:38 p.m. in the 34000 block of Hoyt Road Southwest, there was a report of a strong-arm robbery at a business.

Aug. 17

There were zero vehicle thefts reported, and one vehicle was recovered on this day.

Racer: At 12:30 a.m. in the 31000 block of Seventh Avenue South, there was a report that officers conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle for racing. The vehicle turned around in a parking lot and fled from officers. Officers identified the driver. An area check located the vehicle in the immediate area abandoned. Case forwarded to the prosecutor.

Military equipment stolen: At 1:03 p.m. in the 100 block of South 330th Street, there was a report from a victim who said that their vehicle had been broken into. About $1,000 worth of damage was incurred from a broken window. Additionally, suspects stole $2,000 worth of military equipment, including a large ruck sack, medium ruck sack, assault pack, ACH helmet and a military uniform. No weapons or ammunition were taken from the vehicle. There were no cameras nearby. No suspect information.

Aug. 18

There were zero vehicle thefts reported, and one vehicle was recovered on this day.

Homicide: At 10:05 a.m. in the 3000 block of Third Place Southwest, there was a report that officers and medical personnel responded to a shooting. The victim did not survive. See the report in today’s Mirror.

Aug. 19

There were three vehicle thefts reported, and zero vehicles were recovered on this day.

Stolen vehicle eluding: At 1:41 a.m. in the 27000 block of Pacific Highway South, there was a report of a stolen vehicle traveling on Pacific Highway South. The stolen vehicle was located heading southbound, and officers initiated a pursuit at South 272nd Street and Pacific Highway South. During the pursuit, stop sticks were deployed effectively. The driver bailed on foot after the front right tire had fallen off. The driver was later located nearby and arrested for possession of a stolen vehicle and eluding.

Residential burglary: At 2:03 p.m. on 20th Avenue Southwest, there was a report of a residential burglary. Officers deployed a K-9 and Guardian One. The suspect was described as a white male, about 18- to 20-years-old, with curly brown hair, facial hair, wearing a gray shirt and armed with a black revolver. After an extended search, the suspect was not located. The case remains active.

Cats in dirty apartment: At 10:12 p.m. in the 35000 block of 16th Avenue South, there was a report of a foul odor emanating from an apartment unit. The reporting party indicated that she could smell something unpleasant coming from the apartment directly above hers. A neighbor said that she had not seen the resident of the apartment for the last four to five days. Officers made an emergency entry to ensure there were no individuals inside who might be deceased. Upon entering the apartment, officers found a cat and several kittens, along with feces and urine covering the floor. The entire apartment emitted a strong, foul odor. Although there was some food present, it was clear that the cats had been left unattended for several days in an unsanitary environment. The case will be forwarded to animal services for further investigation.
