Woman dies in Federal Way collision early Nov. 21

A 26-year-old woman, whom officers suspect was drinking alcohol before crashing into another driver, died early Nov. 21.

According to Federal Way Police Department Cmdr. Kyle Buchanan, shortly after 5:30 a.m. Nov. 21, two vehicles traveling on South 320th Street in Federal Way collided near the Interstate 5 interchange. According to Buchanan, driver one — a 26-year-old woman — was traveling eastbound when she crossed into the westbound lanes and collided with driver two.

Buchanan stated that the 26-year-old female was seriously injured, and driver two was trapped inside his vehicle.

“Police officers provided aid to driver one until relieved by medics. Medics worked to save driver one’s life, but she died at the scene,” Buchanan stated. “Driver two was extracted from the vehicle with less serious injuries and sent to Harborview Medical Center.”

Buchanan said that officers saw evidence of alcohol consumption inside the 26-year-old woman’s vehicle, and witnesses reported that she was driving recklessly before the collision. Buchanan said an autopsy will determine whether the 26-year-old woman had been drinking before the collision.
