Wilson, Kochmar advance in August primary election

Incumbent Sen. Claire Wilson secured over 55% of votes as of Tuesday night.

Incumbent Sen. Claire Wilson held steady through the primary election, advancing alongside Federal Way City Council President Linda Kochmar to the general election, according to early election results on Aug. 2. 

For Legislative District 30 State Senator, early returns on Tuesday night showed incumbent Democrat Claire Wilson winning with over 55% of the vote — or approximately 7,984 votes.

Republican challenger Linda Kochmar took home over 35% of the vote against Republican candidate Mark W. Christie’s 8% of votes, according to Tuesday night’s King County Elections drop.

Wilson and Kochmar likely advance to the November general election.

In Federal Way, voting turnout so far lingers at just over 17% with 14,837 ballots counted of the 82,922 registered voters.

Primary election results are certified Aug. 16. The general election is Tuesday, Nov. 8.
