On Tuesday, Federal Way police arrested two Decatur High School students while they were attending school in connection to shootings that occurred Oct. 3 in the 33900 block of 19th Avenue Southwest.

The suspects, an 18-year-old man and a 17-year-old man, were arrested around 9:30 a.m. Oct. 4. Both of the suspects, who are not being named because charges have not been filed, allegedly approached a group of 30 to 50 Asian men around 1:18 a.m. Monday and fired handguns into a crowd.

One 20-year-old victim was taken to Harborview Medical Center, where he was treated and released. A second 24-year-old victim was taken to St. Joseph’s Hospital, where he was treated and released. The victims are from Federal Way. They have requested their names not be released.

The assault investigation is continuing. Police have not said why the large group was gathered or why shots were fired from the suspects, who were part of a smaller group of about eight black men who approached the large group. There is no known association between the groups, according to police.
