Two injured in hit-and-run at S. 356th St. in Federal Way

At 6:56 p.m. Feb. 17 near 1800 S.W. 356th St., police responded to a hit-and-run vehicle accident involving pedestrians.

An initial investigation showed a 59-year-old Federal Way resident was driving a Dodge Dakota truck eastbound on South 356th Street when the vehicle collided with two pedestrians. The pedestrians, a 16-year-old male Kent resident and a 20-year-old male Tacoma resident, were walking eastbound on Southwest 356th Street, when they began to run across the street in an attempt to reach a bus stop. They were struck by the truck.

The 16-year-old was released to family after being treated for non-life threatening injuries. The 20-year-old was flown to Harborview Medical Center in Seattle with life threatening injuries. The driver fled on foot, but was found and transported to Harborview with non-life threatening injuries, according to police.

An initial investigation shows alcohol may have been a factor in the incident, according to police. Federal Way police, with assistance from the Major Accident Response Team, is further investigating the incident.
