Today last day to vote in Presidential Primary Election

Voters have until 8 p.m. today, May 24, to get their Presidential Primary Election ballots to a drop-off location or accessible voting center.

Federal Way’s ballot drop-off location is at City Hall (33325 Eighth Ave. S.), but ballots – no stamp required – can be dropped off at any drop-off spot before the deadline.

Results from today will be available starting at 8:15 p.m. and will be posted to the Secretary of State’s website.

According to the Washington Secretary of State Elections Division, 1.2 million ballots have been received to date for the 2016 Presidential Primary Election out of approximately 4.1 million ballots issued – a 28.2 percent turnout rate. Washington state’s record turnout in a Presidential Primary Election was set in 2000, when Election Day was in February, and was 42.6 percent.

The state Republican Party will use the results of today’s Presidential Primary Election to award delegates at the Republican National Convention in July. The state Democratic Party will not use the results of today’s primary; its delegates are awarded according to the results of the party’s March caucuses.
