Following is a sample from the Federal Way police log from Oct. 11 - Oct. 17.

Oct. 11

There were at least 4 reports of vehicle theft or attempted vehicle theft on this day.

Nonresidential burglary: After responding to a report of a burglary that occurred in the past, officers used footage provided by the reporting party to determine that suspects were already in custody and that the washer and dryer that had been stolen were located as well.

Found handgun: A handgun was found under a table at a restaurant around 10 a.m. at the 34900 block of Pacific Highway South along with two magazines, but no record of it came up when officers searched the database.

Possession arrests: Two individuals were arrested in separate instances for possession of drugs.

Robbery with a firearm: Around 1 p.m., a male stole money from a register at a business located near 33600 Pacific Highway South using a gun.

Burglary with vehicle: Officers responded to a business around 9 p.m. located on 32800 block of Pacific Highway South to observe a rear garage door that looked to have been rammed by a vehicle.

Oct. 12

There were at least 6 reports of vehicle theft or attempted vehicle theft on this day.

Burglary with vehicle: Officers responded to a commercial burglary and located a stolen vehicle that was used to ram the garage door to another business. A vehicle was stolen from inside the business and the owner was contacted.

Purse theft: Around 12 p.m. in the parking lot of a grocery store on 21st Avenue Southwest, a woman reported that a car pulled up next to her and a suspect got out and grabbed her purse out of her cart. Total loss is about $12,750 due to the woman’s wedding ring being inside the purse.

Found suitcase: A suitcase was mysteriously left behind at the end of someone’s driveway. Officers responded around 2:20 p.m. to the call near 28900 block of 20th Avenue South. After clearing the suitcase of danger, officers found that it looked to be neatly packed for a vacation.

Oct. 13

There were at least 6 reports of vehicle theft or attempted vehicle theft on this day.

Vehicle crash and fire: A vehicle was traveling at a high speed and was confirmed as stolen when the driver lost control and crashed into a building located in the 31100 block of Pacific Highway South, causing a vehicle fire that spread to the building. All occupants of the vehicle fled on foot.

Nonresidential burglary: Sometime between 5:30 a.m. and 6:50 a.m., a burglary occurred at a business on the 3400 block of Hoyt Road Southwest. Officers observed shattered glass and an open till.

Nonresidential forced entry: Around 6 a.m. near the 2200 block of Southwest 356th Street, officers responded to an alarm and discovered that a business property had been damaged. The owner reported that no items were taken.

Armed robbery at gas station: At around 8:50 a.m., police responded to an armed robbery at a gas station on Pacific Highway South.

Nonresidential burglary: Sometime between 2 a.m. and 4 a.m., officers were dispatched to a commercial property on Southwest 356th Street. A victim stated that a safe was stolen.

Arrested for possession of narcotics: An individual was arrested for a confirmed felony warrant and was found to be in possession of narcotics near the 28800 block of 23rd Avenue South.

Nonresidential burglary: Several storage units were burglarized sometime between 7 p.m. and 8 p.m. at a self-storage facility on Pacific Highway South. Two vehicles entered the lot and damaged doors and locks of five different units.

Knife threat: Around 6:45 p.m. at an apartment complex on 25th Place South, a victim called 911 after a stranger displayed a knife. After the victim tried to create distance between themselves and the person with the knife, they came closer and got within feet of the victim. The victim removed their own legally owned firearm and held it at their side as they walked away and was ultimately not harmed.

Oct. 14

There were at least 7 reports of vehicle theft or attempted vehicle theft on this day.

Resisting arrest: Officers responded to a fight at a night club around 2:30 a.m. on South 320th Street. A subject punched a vehicle window several times then pushed the officer and grabbed the officer’s belt and baton. The officer used force to effect the arrest, according to police.

Residential burglary: A victim called 911 around 1:45 p.m. after her apartment window was shattered and a known female entered the apartment. The suspect ransacked the apartment, located on 23rd Avenue South, causing thousands of dollars in damage.

Nonresidential armed robbery: Officers responded to a report of an armed robbery of a local restaurant around 8 p.m. in the 31800 block of Pacific Highway. The suspect fled in an unlicensed vehicle.

Backpack robbery: As a victim placed groceries in her car, she was approached by two subjects who showed her a small rifle and yelled at her. She was pushed to the ground and her backpack was taken from her.

Oct. 15

There were at least 7 reports of vehicle theft or attempted vehicle theft on this day.

DUI causes tree crash: A driver crashed his vehicle into a tree in the median of the road around midnight on South 348th Street. The driver was arrested and booked for DUI.

Attempted vehicle theft with firearm: Around 1:30 a.m. officers responded to a non-injury shooting that occurred after a vehicle prowl had been interrupted. The victim was not hurt, but several vehicles and a house were struck by gunfire.

Vehicle collision into garage: Around 3:20 p.m. a vehicle crashed into a garage on Military Road South. The occupants had fled and the vehicle had signs of being stolen.

Gas station robbery: Officers responded to an armed robbery around 8:30 a.m. at a gas station on Military Road South.

Trespass and dog scam: A 911 caller reported around 10:45 a.m. that she was remotely observing unknown suspects entering her property via her home camera system. After listening to the playback of the audio recording from the camera, she determined that the suspect was attempting to scam the male into allowing her to babysit his dog by saying that the house of the victim was her own.

Tesla stumps auto thief: Around 1:45 p.m. at a gas station on South 348th Street, a suspect asked the victim for a ride while he was airing up his tire. The victim declined and the suspect entered the car and told the victim that he was taking it. Due to the complexity of operating the Tesla, he was unable to start the car and fled on foot. He was then arrested.

Armed carjacking: Police pursued suspects fleeing in a stolen vehicle around 10 p.m. near the Commons mall but lost sight of the vehicle and terminated the pursuit. The car had been stolen in an armed carjacking.

Oct. 16

There were at least 7 reports of vehicle theft or attempted vehicle theft on this day.

Lawnmowers stolen: Two lawnmowers and a generator were stolen from the back of a victim’s truck despite being secured with chains. The theft occurred sometime between 3:30 p.m. and 4:30 a.m the next day on Pacific Highway South.

Gas station robbery: A gas station was robbed by a suspect with a gun around 8 a.m. on Southwest 356th Street.

Gas station robbery: At around 1:30 a.m. a gas station was robbed on South 320th Street. It is listed as a robbery with a firearm but no further details are available.

Residential residential: Two suspects entered a home and brandished firearms while demanding money from victims around 11:15 a.m. at a residence on South 333rd Street. The investigation is ongoing.

Oct. 17

There were at least 5 reports of vehicle theft or attempted vehicle theft on this day.

Fire in truck: A small fire was found inside the back of an abandoned box truck around 1 a.m. near the 28700 block of Military Road South. South King Fire believed it to be a “warming fire” and did not observe any damage to the truck itself.

E-bike stolen: Witnesses reported that a male exited the rear of a vehicle with an e-bike around 11:55 a.m. in the parking lot of a grocery store on Pacific Highway and fled through the parking lot. Police have attempted to contact the victim by phone but were unsuccessful
