Suspect steals lots of blow dryers | Federal Way Police Blotter

Feb. 28

There was at least 1 report of vehicle theft or attempted vehicle theft on this day and 2 vehicles were recovered.

Blow dryers stolen: After consulting a sales manager about blow dryers and leaving the store, a suspect later returned and stole more than $700 of the same products. The incident occurred at a business near the 1800 block of South 320th Street.

Fraud: A victim was reported to have been swindled out of approximately $165,000 in cash.

Street robbery: Suspects in a black four-door vehicle robbed a victim while he was walking home. The victim believed that one of the suspects was armed, but did not see a gun, and nothing about a gun was said out loud by the suspects. The suspects stole the victim’s hoody, pants, shoes and iPhone.

Feb. 29

There were at least 5 reports of vehicle theft or attempted vehicle theft on this day and 2 vehicles were recovered.

Drug emphasis operation: As part of a drug emphasis on high crime areas of town, a team of specialty officers identified multiple individuals suspected to be in possession of illegal narcotics on this day. Police made several arrests in multiple locations and a trespass.

Juvenile struck: A juvenile was struck by a vehicle after running out into the roadway at approximately 5:15 a.m. near the 1300 block of Southwest 356th Street. He was transported to Harborview Medical Center with serious injuries.

March 1

There were no reports of vehicle theft or attempted vehicle theft on this day and 2 vehicles were recovered.

Unconscious driver: At approximately 1:30 a.m., officers arrested a driver for DUI who was asleep behind the wheel in a vehicle at the intersection of Pacific Highway South and 320th Street. The driver admitted to driving under the influence of alcohol.

Fentanyl fake out: A driver collided with several parked cars while attempting to flee from a traffic stop at around 4 p.m. near the 32400 block of Pacific Highway South. The driver then attempted to flee on foot and after being apprehended, and stated that he had swallowed fentanyl. The individual was cleared at a nearby hospital and booked into jail.

Shopping cart stop leads to arrest: After stopping an individual with a shopping cart in the public right of way at around 9:50 p.m., police determined the individual had a warrant. While arresting the individual, a search revealed drugs, and the person was also charged for possession.

March 2

There were at least 7 reports of vehicle theft or attempted vehicle theft on this day and 2 vehicles were recovered.

Gas station burglary: Officers responded to reports of a burglary at approximately 3 a.m. Upon arrival at the scene near the 1200 block of South 320th Street, police determined that two subjects forced entry and stole merchandise before fleeing to a nearby apartment complex. Officers were not able to locate them.

FWPS vehicle fire: At approximately 8 a.m., an employee started warming up a vehicle for his shift and noticed an odd odor coming from it. After turning the vehicle off, he began warming up a different vehicle to use for the day. A few minutes later he saw fire coming from the original vehicle, and the fire also damaged the second vehicle before it was extinguished by South King Fire.

March 3

There were at least 4 reports of vehicle theft or attempted vehicle theft on this day and 6 vehicles were recovered.

Cash register stolen: At approximately 4:30 a.m., a single cash register tray was stolen from a business located near the 31800 block of South Gateway Center Boulevard.

Patrol vehicle broken into: Around 7 p.m., a reporting party reported that her patrol vehicle was broken into. The front right window of a patrol vehicle was broken and an attempt was made to pry the patrol rifle free. The suspect damaged the rifle’s locking system and flashlight and succeeded in stealing a magazine from the rifle. The incident occurred near the 100 block of South 299th Street.

Store stop: Officers responded to a report of an assault at approximately 10:20 p.m. at a store near the 34500 block of 16th Avenue South. Employees had attempted to physically stop a customer whom they believed was shoplifting. She had in fact paid for her items.

Roller skates stolen: Two sets of roller skates and various accessories were stolen from a rental vehicle at some point during the night. The vehicle was parked at a hotel near the 31700 block of Gateway Center Boulevard South.

March 4

There was at least 1 report of vehicle theft or attempted vehicle theft on this day and 5 vehicles were recovered.

Pastry punch: A victim reported that a suspect punched him in the face while the suspect was attempting to steal pastries at approximately 5:10 a.m. The incident occurred near the 27200 block of Pacific Highway South.

Hate crime: At approximately 1 p.m., a suspect entered a store near the 1600 block of South 312th Street, closed the door and blocked staff from leaving. He then made statements about the victims’ race and threatened to sexually assault them.

Road rage: A male called to report a road rage incident at approximately 5 p.m. He advised that he was assaulted and had a firearm pointed at him. The suspect was located and arrested for Assault 2.
