Student lights toilet roll on fire | Police blotter

Following is a sample from the Federal Way police log March 2-9.

March 2

Toilet roll fire: At about 10:20 a.m. near the 30600 block of 16th Avenue South, a student at Federal Way High School set fire to a roll of toilet paper in a bathroom stall. The fire was put out quickly and did not cause any damage to the building.

Stolen vehicle: At about 7:32 p.m. near the 31600 block of 23rd Avenue South, a woman parked at the Federal Way Transit Center in the morning and went to work. When she returned that evening, her vehicle was missing. No cameras were present where the woman parked. No suspect information.

March 3

Armed robbery: At about 8:03 p.m. near the 2400 block of South 320th Street, officers were dispatched to an armed robbery call. The suspects fled the area prior to police arrival and were not located.

March 4

Shell casings: At about 5:20 p.m. near the 2300 block of SW 336th Street, officers responded to reports of a shooting. On scene, they found handgun shell casings in the parking lot, but no suspects or victims were located. Witnesses reported seeing two males involved in an argument that escalated to gunfire from both involved subjects. The shell casings were recovered as evidence and the neighboring businesses were canvassed for additional witnesses and surveillance video. There were no injuries as a result of the shooting.

Man steals gun, cash after sleepover: At about 11:16 p.m. near the 31700 block of 50th Lane SW, a man reported that he allowed a transient man to spend the night. When he woke up he realized the unknown man had stolen his firearm and about $800 in cash. The suspect was not located.

March 5

Bank robbery: At about 1:27 p.m. near the 1900 block of SW Campus Drive, officers responded to reports of a bank robbery.

Deceased man: At about 4:33 p.m. near the 31000 block of 14th Avenue South, officers responded to an apartment complex after a passerby found a man dead in a parked car. The man had been deceased for some time. The King County Medical Examiner’s Office took custody of the remains.

March 6

Argument turned assault: At about 9:22 p.m. near the 35600 block of 2nd Place South, a man reported that during a verbal argument, he was struck in the face several times by his girlfriend.

March 7

Home intruders: At about 1:12 a.m. near the 2900 block of SW 323rd Street, officers responded to a 911 hang up. When officers contacted the resident, she said she encountered two unknown men in her house. One of the men assaulted her while she was attempting to call 911. No items were missing from the home and the suspects were not located.

Armed robbery: At about 3:12 a.m. near the 31800 block of Pacific Highway South, officers were dispatched to an active robbery with a gun at a business. The suspect left in a blue sedan prior to police arrival. The suspect has not yet been identified.

March 9

Assault on trail: At about 1:27 p.m. near trail marker 1.5, officers responded to a recent assault that occurred on the BPA Trail.

Stolen planters: At about 3:59 p.m. near the 900 block of South 348th Street, it was reported that sometime overnight a man driving a red SUV stole two planters from the property. Each planter is worth about $800.
