A Federal Way Public Schools bus full of high school students was rear-ended Tuesday morning by a student driver.

According to Cathy Schrock, a spokeswoman with Federal Way police, the school district’s transportation department reported the incident at approximately 7 a.m.

A female Todd Beamer High School student driving a four-door vehicle rear-ended bus No. 145 while heading southbound on Pacific Highway South between South 356th Street and South 359th Street. The bus was in a left-turn lane heading toward South 359th Street.

Neither the student, nor anyone on the bus, was injured, Schrock said, noting that aid was cancelled after an officer arrived and assessed the scene. The student driver’s vehicle sustained little damage while the bus had no damage at all, she added.

Deb Stenberg, a spokeswoman with the school district, said the bus was full of 45 Todd Beamer High School students.

Students were taken to school in the same bus after it was cleared, Stenberg said.

Security dispatch, 911, the school and other parties were notified of the accident.

Stenberg said parents will receive an email letting them know of the incident.
