Following is a sample from the Federal Way police log:

• Violent son: At 6:51 p.m. Oct. 15 on South 338th Place, police responded to a domestic violence call. According to the report, a woman’s son assaulted her by throwing a remote at her and then punching her in the face. The son also attacked a younger sibling, biting that sibling three to five times, according to the report.

• Sisters and brothers: At 12:43 a.m. Oct. 16 in the 35000 block of 25th Avenue SW, police responded to a domestic violence call. Upon arrival, they found a man who said his sister had punched him. There was no visible sign of injury on the man. According to the report, the sister was arrested and booked for assault.

• “Kill You”: At 7:57 a.m. Oct. 16 in the 3700 block of SW 338th Place, a victim contacted police regarding a number of broken flower pots on the victim’s front porch. Also, the victim stated that someone had scratched “Kill You” into the garage door. There were no witnesses, according to the police report, but the victim said he/she had heard a vehicle speed away at the time of the incident.

• Forged checks: At 9:35 a.m. Oct. 15 in the 3800 block of SW 336th Street, a man reported that his son had stolen two personal checks. According to the police report, the son had forged the man’s signature on both and cashed them. The report also indicates there is a no-contact order between the two, but that the son routinely violates it, showing up at his dad’s residence and workplace asking for money.

• Don’t take your pot to Wild Waves: At 12:08 p.m. Oct. 15 in the 36000 block of Enchanted Parkway, Wild Waves Theme Park security contacted police regarding two individuals smoking pot. Police were able to locate the individuals, and turned them over to their mother, according to the report. A small amount of marijuana, stashed in an ibuprofen bottle, and a pipe, were taken from one of the individuals.

• Precious metals fraud: At 9:07 a.m. Oct. 13 in the 2500 block of South 320th Street, police were contacted regarding a fraud case involving silver. According to the report, the suspect indicated they had sterling silver items to sell, and that the provided samples tested out to be sterling silver. The items that were sold, and for which the suspect received money, were merely silver plated, the report indicates.

• Near hit and run: At 6:11 p.m. Oct. 12 in the 35000 block of 16th Avenue South, the victim was walking home from school near the edge of the road. According to the report, a vehicle sped by, and caught the victim’s backpack on the vehicle’s side mirror, causing the backpack to lift over the victim’s head. The victim complained of some pain, but was otherwise unharmed. According to the report, the vehicle did not stop, and the victim was unable to get a license plate number.
