A man with a gunshot wound to his leg flagged down Federal Way police Wednesday night asking for help.

At 11:58 p.m., he told police his father, Ronald Clarence Simpson, 50, had shot him in the leg in the 2500 block of S. 288th St. The man was in the 29600 block of Pacific Highway South as he spoke to police.

According to police spokeswoman Cathy Schrock, the man’s injury is non-life-threatening and he was hospitalized that night.

Details regarding the reason for the dispute are unknown at this time.

“It was believed that the suspect had barricaded himself, armed with a shotgun,” Schrock wrote in an email, noting that SWAT responded to a residence at 2 a.m. Thursday.

Although police were able to detain three individuals, Simpson was not found and the others were released, she said.

Police got a search warrant and entered the home at 4 a.m. SWAT cleared the area just before 6 a.m.
