Search by state patrol prompts school lockdowns

Sports teams and onlookers were ushered inside Sequoyah Middle School, 3425 S. 360th St., on Monday after school hours as the Washington State Patrol pursued suspects in a stolen car in Federal Way.

The suspects fled on foot when troopers attempted to perform a traffic stop, WSP District Two spokeswoman Christina Martin said. One female suspect was detained by WSP, Federal Way police spokeswoman Cathy Schrock said. A male suspect was located through a K-9 search, she said. The scene is still being processed as of press time.

Sports activities resumed after the lockdown was called off.
