School district to host budget conversation; TAF Academy hires new principal | Education briefs

The Federal Way School District will host a conversation about the district’s budget from 6 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. April 19 at Federal Way High School, 30611 16th Ave. S. Superintendent Rob Neu, along with Assistant Superintendent of Business Services Sally McLean, will discuss the latest information about the state budget cuts, how the state’s budget crisis will impact the district in 2011-2012, the challenges facing the district and the decisions required. TAF Academy hires principal

The Federal Way School Board announced it has offered the Technology Access Foundation (TAF) Academy principal position to Paul Tytler, one of two finalists for the job. Tytler will begin July 1. Tytler is currently Assistant Superintendent for the Partnership for Los Angeles Schools. He is an educational doctorate candidate in educational leadership from the University of Washington and holds a master’s degree in educational leadership from the University of Washington. He has eight years of experience as either a principal or assistant principal. He has also served as an educational consultant and director of redesign for the School Redesign Network of Stanford University.
