Election coverage

In last week’s elections, Larson emerged a strong leader for re-election to the school board against candidate Ron Walker.

As of press time Thursday, Larson had 60.78 percent of the votes.

“Certainly I’m pleased with the results so far,” Larson said. “Ron gave me a good run for my money and he’s a good man and it concerned me whether I would win because he is a viable candidate.”

Also in preliminary vote counts, candidate Amye Bronson-Doherty leads Evelyn Castellar for position 3, and Suzanne Smith leads candidate Len Englund for position 2.

“I am optimistic,” Bronson-Doherty said of the results. “I am not going to assume success until we have a few more days under our belts, but things look good and I am looking forward to the opportunity to serve the community.”

The remaining school board candidates were not reachable for comment. See page A1 for current vote tallies.
