On April 16, Reach Out Federal Way is hosting Rollermania to raise money for local homeless shelters.

In the winter months, Reach Out provides shelter, meals and support for dozens of South King County homeless men and women. The non-profit organization recently opened a much-needed women’s shelter, which wrapped up its first season April 1.

Reach Out seeks teams for Rollermania, which runs 6 to 9 p.m. April 16 at Pattison’s West Skating Center in Federal Way. Skaters of all skill levels are asked to raise $30, and non-skating participants are asked to donate $10.

Awards will be given for the team raising the most in donations, the team with the highest average donation per team member, and the largest team. Bring donations to the event, which set a fundraising goal of $10,000.

Federal Way philanthropist Megan Johnson has formed Team Megan’s Mission with 59 participants so far, with a handful of local leaders forming the City Hall Rollers. Other local businesses that have formed teams include chiropractor Greg Summers, Java Billiards and the Federal Way Mirror.
