The following is a sample from the Federal Way police public information log:

• At 11:28 a.m. Aug. 17 in the 4200 block of S.W. 323rd Street, officers responded to a verbal domestic violence dispute between three family members who were arguing about marijuana use, infidelity, alcoholism and obesity issues. Officers advised the family to go to counseling.

• At 7:28 p.m. Aug. 19 at 34520 16th Ave. S., a person tried to cash altered money orders to be sent to Nigeria. The amount of the orders was not provided.

• At 9:12 p.m. Aug. 19 in the 32000 block of 19th Lane S.W., a woman contacted police to report her apartment had been burglarized while she was with her daughter at cheerleading practice. It appeared a burglar entered through an unlocked sliding door. Only some snack food was discovered missing from the kitchen pantry. No fingerprints could be found.

• At 11:44 p.m. Aug. 19 at 2109 S.W. 336th St., employees at a grocery store reported that two males entered the store, selected eggs and bacon, then fled without paying. Seventeen minutes earlier, the same store reported a different male had left the store without paying for an estimated $60 worth of groceries.

• At 2:45 a.m. Aug. 19 in the 31100 block of 18th Avenue South, two suspects were contacted over a domestic dispute possibly involving a knife. When officers arrived on the scene, a knife was not found, but a female suspect was found with marijuana and was cited. A male suspect provided a false name in an alleged attempt to conceal an active felony warrant. He was arrested and cited for obstructing the police.

• At 9:19 p.m. Aug. 18 in the 31300 block of 12th Avenue Southwest, police responded to a verbal domestic violence complaint, in which a woman had fainted due to the stress of an argument between her son and his father. The woman was revived and no one was injured.

• At 4:36 p.m. Aug. 18 at The Commons mall, two female juveniles were contacted inside the shopping center. An officer checking with dispatch discovered both females had been reported as runaways. Both girls were released to their parents.

• At 11:14 p.m. Aug. 17 at 1720 S. 341st Place, a witness reported seeing a male breaking into cars in a parking lot. When the witness approached, the suspect threw stereos taken from cars to the ground and ran away. Police later determined the suspect had tried to steal a car as well. A K-9 track and fingerprinting did not lead to any evidence.

• At 12:54 a.m. Aug. 17 at 28719 Military Road S., a male victim walking on the sidewalk was approached by three male juveniles who asked him for money. When he refused to give it, at least one of the juveniles hit him. The victim suffered large swelling around his eyes and several cuts on his face.
