Protest stems from outrage over rape statistics

On March 31, Tyler Young led a small protest in front of The Commons mall in Federal Way.

Young, 18, organized the protest to persuade the Federal Way City Council to train and hire more police and invest in police technology.

“Last year my friend was raped. Recently I looked at crime statistics in Federal Way and they were surprisingly high,” Young said. “Even though economic and cultural growth are very important, (the city council) needs to realize that their priorities lie with more fundamental things that they should be dealing with.”
