Following is a sample from the Federal Way police log:

• Pizza hoax: At 11:11 p.m. May 8 at 112 SW 312th Street, it was reported that an employee of Papa John’s had received a call earlier in the evening from a person he believed to be from corporate tech support. The unknown suspect requested phone numbers from the last 10 orders, and the employee gave out the numbers. The employee started receiving phone calls from customers, stating that the unknown suspect said things like their pizza was poisoned, that someone fell on their sidewalk out front, and that the pizza dough had been dropped on the floor. A check on the phone number revealed it was a phishing spam number. No other vital customer information was released.

• Fight at Steel Lake: At 8 p.m. May 8 in the 2600 block of South 312th Street, a fight erupted among two factions at Steel Lake Park. The fight was broken up, but a person from one group contacted more family members, and another fight took place at the Steel Lake Annex. According to police, one man was assaulted by several people and was transported to the hospital for treatment. No witnesses cooperated with police and the suspects’ identity remains unknown.

• Assault with a machete: At 8:47 p.m. May 8 in the 29000 block of 23rd Avenue South, a victim reported that she went to drop off her two children at a man’s house, but the kids wanted to leave with her. When she began gathering their things, the man got angry and scratched the victim, then attempted to cut her with a machete. The man was arrested.

• Passed out in the parking lot: At 3:56 p.m. May 8 in the 31000 block of Pacific Highway South, police conducted a welfare check on a male who was passed out and unresponsive in a parking lot. It took several minutes to get him to respond. According to police, the male lied about his name because he had a warrant in Federal Way and did not want to go to jail. The warrant was confirmed, and the male was booked into SCORE jail.

• Robbery suspects: At 1:14 a.m. May 8 in the 31200 block of Pacific Highway South, Federal Way police stopped a vehicle that was notified as involved in a robbery in Pierce County. Two men were arrested. The driver had a suspended license, and the passenger had been shot in the leg. Pierce County law enforcement took over the investigation.

• Walmart mischief: At 9:13 p.m. May 9 at 34520 16th Ave. S., a juvenile attempted to rob an elderly man inside Walmart. The juvenile and another suspect tried to steal merchandise and also damaged merchandise. According to the report, both suspects were intoxicated with alcohol and arrested.

• Mugged at the park: At 2:29 a.m. May 9, a victim reported that he was assaulted at Olympic View Park, 2900 SW 330th Street. Two unknown males opened the truck and assaulted the victim, who reported that the men hit him several times with their fists, pulled him from the truck, and smashed his head with the door several times before he was able to flee. No suspects were located.

• Expensive burglary: At 3:38 p.m. May 10 in the 31100 block of 11th Place SW, a residential burglary was reported. The victim reported several high-end items were stolen while the home was unoccupied earlier that day. Stolen items included a Coach purse, Victoria’s Secret underwear, a Rolex watch, an iPad, lots of fine jewelry, passports, birth certificates and more. Value of stolen property was estimated at $99,300. The suspects allegedly gained entrance through the sliding glass door.

• Suspicious gun transaction: At 3:39 p.m. May 10 at 1400 S. 324th St., a customer of Federal Way Discount Guns called 911 to report a suspicious gun transaction involving a black male. Police contacted the male and after several versions of the story, he told police that the gun was taken for safekeeping from a friend who was high. The silver Colt handgun was submitted to evidence for Integrated Ballistics Identification System (IBIS) testing.

• Heroin overdose: At 7:20 a.m. May 10 in the 2600 block of South 276th Street, a woman called police because she feared her son, who got out of jail the day before, might have overdosed in the bathroom after being inside for 30 minutes with no response. Police kicked in the bathroom door. The son was found unresponsive on the floor with drug paraphernalia for injecting heroin strewn about the sink area. The suspect was treated at the scene by South King Fire and Rescue, and was later arrested.

• Gun found in restaurant bathroom: At 7:25 p.m. May 11 at 31920 Gateway Center Blvd., a manager at The Ram restaurant found a gun in the men’s restroom just before two small children entered the stall. The manager found the gun after a phone call from a man who said he forgot his gun in the restroom. An officer retrieved the gun, which was fully loaded. The magazine was filled to capacity, with one round in the chamber. Police contacted the gun owner. No crime was reported.

• Meth at Walmart: At 2:15 p.m. May 11 in the 1900 block of South 314th Street, a shoplifting suspect was arrested at Walmart. A container of crystal meth was found in the suspect’s bag.

• Door kicker: At 9:27 a.m. May 11 in the 1800 block of South 282nd Place, officers responded to a call of a suspect attempting to gain access to his ex-girlfriend’s apartment by kicking the door. The suspect never gained entry. Police found the suspect in another apartment in the complex and arrested him on a prior warrant.

• Domestic violence: At 2:34 a.m. May 11 in the 32000 block of 20th Avenue SW, it was reported that a man woke up a female victim and said he wanted to break up. The victim went outside, then re-entered. The man punched her and pulled her to the ground by the hair, according to the report. The victim had bruises from an assault by the man the previous day, the report said. The man was arrested and booked into SCORE jail.

• Slapped on Mother’s Day: At 9:48 p.m. May 12 in the 2300 block of South 302nd Street, police responded to a call about a suspect who got angry with a juvenile and slapped the juvenile, knocking the victim to the ground. The suspect apologized for overreacting and slapping the victim. The victim was not injured and declined to pursue criminal charges.

• Hit and run: At 12:41 p.m. May 12 in the 29000 block of 18th Avenue South, a victim was crossing the street when a black 1997 Cadillac backed up and hit the victim with its rear bumper. The driver got out, saw the victim on the ground and drove away toward South 288th Street, according to police. The victim was taken to St. Francis Hospital with minor injuries. The suspect and vehicle were gone prior to police arrival.

• Foot pursuit: At 5:38 a.m. May 12 in the 30800 block of 9th Place South, an officer pursued a vehicle prowl suspect on foot, but eventually lost sight of the suspect. A window was broken and a radio was stolen from the owner’s vehicle.

• Punched on Mother’s Day: At 4:05 a.m. May 12 in the 34000 block of 2nd Lane South, a woman called 911 to report an assault by her daughter. The daughter punched the woman in the face, causing a cut and bleeding on her nose. The daughter was arrested at her apartment and booked into SCORE jail.
