Police searching for driver who hit teenager in Federal Way crosswalk

Teen sustained very minor injuries, police say.

Police are searching for the driver who struck a teenager while he was riding a scooter in a Federal Way crosswalk on Thursday afternoon, Feb. 3.

At about 4 p.m. near the 400 block of South 320th Street, the 17-year-old boy was hit by a vehicle while riding a scooter in the marked crosswalk, said Cmdr. Kurt Schwan of Federal Way Police.

The involved driver fled from the scene and later abandoned the vehicle, Schwan said. Officers are working to identify the driver.

The teenager was transported to Harborview Medical Center as a precaution, but he sustained very minor injuries, Schwan said.

Police are continuing to investigate.
