On Jan. 23, William Muhammad turned himself in to Federal Way police
investigators, who were able to interview Muhammad, age 24, regarding the shooting incident at the Metro Transit Center in Federal Way.
At 7 p.m. Jan. 18, a 38-year-old Darrel Lenea Miller of White Center was shot. She later died at Harborview Medical Center as a result of the gunshot wound, reports said.
Based on the Federal Way Police Department’s investigation, there was no direct connection between the victim and the individuals who were involved in a dispute at the scene. The investigation is ongoing.

Students and alcohol
Four Decatur High School students were suspended from school for four days and barred from extra-curricular activities indefinitely after a Jan. 19 incident at Decatur’s Winter Ball dance.
The four students, all girls, were given minors in possession of alcohol citations and released to their parents, according to a police report.
“The students were noted to be under the influence (at the dance),” said Federal Way school district spokeswoman Diane Turner. “By law, we have to contact police.”
According to Decatur Principal Tom Leacy, a police officer was on duty at the Winter Ball dance and the four students were given breathalyzer tests. He also said at least two of the students were involved in extracurricular activities at Decatur and under district policy, they shall be immediately ineligible for interscholastic competition for a term of 60 school days.
Under district policy, students will be disciplined when there is reasonable cause to believe they have violated the prohibition against possession or use of alcohol. The penalty is suspension from school for a minimum of 20 days and a parent conference.
However, the suspension may be modified, which happened in this case, if a student participates in an assessment by an agency approved by the Federal Way School District. The district requires release of the assessment information and that the student follows the assessment recommendation(s). If the student does not complete the recommendation(s) of the assessment, any remaining suspension days will go into effect.
