Police arrest suspect in U.S. Bank robbery

A suspect in the 12:04 p.m. Jan. 28 bank robbery at 1436 S. 312th St. was arrested shortly following the incident.

The suspect, a 47-year-old Tacoma man, entered the U.S. Bank, jumped over the counter and grabbed an undisclosed amount of cash. The man did not display or imply any weapons, Federal Way police Lt. John Stieben said.

The suspect escaped in a vehicle. Police located him with assistance from a citizen, who flagged down an officer on patrol and pointed out the suspect’s get-away vehicle. The suspect exited the vehicle with his hands held above his head. Remnants from a dye pack could be seen, Stieben said.

The man is not thought to have connections to any of the city’s multiple other bank robberies within the past year. Police believe he acted alone, Steiben said.
