Pickup truck crashes into Federal Way home

An 18-year-old driver crashed a vehicle into a home in the 3200 block of Southwest 325th Street early Thursday morning.

Police responded to a fight in the street about 1:45 a.m. March 18 in the 2700 block of Southwest 327th Street, Lt. John Stieben said. The suspect was allegedly involved in a fight about whether he ought to be operating a motor vehicle, Stieben said. When officers attempted to contact the suspect, he took off in a truck without the use of headlights and struck the door of a patrol car, Stieben said.

Officers caught up with the suspect a short time later when they found him located inside the truck, which was partially embedded in a resident’s living room, Stieben said. The occupants of the home and officers were not hurt during the incident. The suspect suffered injuries from the fight that preceded the crash, Stieben said.

The man was taken to the hospital for treatment of his injuries. While there, he participated in a blood draw as part of sobriety test, Stieben said. It is believed alcohol was a factor in the crash, he said.
