Motorcyclist, 22, dies in crash along Military Road South

Police and fire crews responded to two serious motorcycle versus vehicle collisions in Federal Way on Aug. 23.

One person is dead and another person sustained serious injuries after two separate motorcycle crashes on Aug. 23 in Federal Way, according to police.

At about 4 p.m. Tuesday, Federal Way police officers responded to reports of a vehicle versus motorcycle collision in the 1100 block of South 348th Street, according to Cmdr. Kurt Schwan of Federal Way Police.

Early investigation found that the motorcyclist, a 51-year-old man, was traveling east and collided with a vehicle making a left turn into the Park & Ride lot, Schwan said. The motorcyclist was airlifted to Harborview Medical Center and as of Aug. 24, he is in stable condition with serious injuries.

Schwan said criminal charges are not expected at this time.

Later in the evening around 6:30 p.m., officers responded to a second vehicle versus motorcycle collision near the 28900 block of Military Road South.

The motorcyclist, a 22-year-old man, was driving south on Military Road South when he collided with a vehicle that turned left in front of him from the northbound lane, Schwan said. The motorcyclist died at the scene.

Schwan said speed is believed to be a factor in the collision, and no criminal charges are expected at this time.

The King County Medical Examiner’s Office identified the 22-year-old man as Damion Lowe. His cause of death was multiple blunt force injuries and his death was ruled as an accident.
