There were two vehicle thefts reported, and one vehicle was recovered on this day.
DUI: At about 12:30 a.m., in the 34000 block of Pacific Hwy. S., an officer observed a vehicle without headlights traveling well under the speed limit. The officer conducted a traffic stop for the violation, and the driver was subsequently arrested for DUI.
Student with a BB gun: At about 10 a.m. at a Federal Way high school, a student was found with a BB gun without a Co2 cartridge. The student was released to the parent with a case number, and charges for possession of a weapon on school grounds were forwarded to the prosecutor. BB gun submitted to evidence.
Jan. 9
There were five vehicle thefts reported, and two vehicles were recovered on this day.
Robbery: At about 9:45 p.m., in the 3400 block of SW 320th St., there was a report of a robbery with a firearm. The suspect had left the scene by the time police arrived. The suspect is believed to have gotten into a vehicle within the parking lot that left traveling westbound on S. 320th St. Probable cause for robbery in the first degree was established.
Illegal discharge: At about 11:30 p.m., in the 5000 block of SW Dash Point Rd., multiple people reported hearing several gunshots in the area of Palisades Park. When officers arrived at the location, they discovered several fired cartridges, but did not find any injured persons or anyone else in the park.
Jan. 10
There were three vehicle thefts reported, and two vehicles were recovered on this day.
Car prowler scared away: At about 2:40 a.m., in the 31000 block of 12th Ave. SW, the victim reported seeing a male wearing all-black rummaging in his vehicle. The victim was able to sound his alarm, which scared the suspect, who fled into a waiting vehicle. The suspect left in a black sedan.
Firearm theft: At about 6 a.m. in the 30000 block of 11th Ave. SW, police took a report of a firearm theft from a vehicle. Suspects rummaged through various vehicles, but did not leave any damage. A firearm was taken from a vehicle. At this time there is no suspect.
License plate swap: At about 4:10 p.m. in the 100 block of SW Campus Dr., the reporting party said that she did not know when, but the rear plate on her vehicle had been switched out with a different plate.
Jaywalkers flee the scene: At about 9:40 p.m. in the 33000 block of Pacific Hwy. S., two subjects were arrested for jaywalking after they nearly caused a collision. The subjects were detained and provided their names. While running their names, both fled on foot. One suspect was apprehended after a short chase. The other eluded custody, but was positively identified based on the name he provided. The arrested person claimed she swallowed fentanyl and was sent to the hospital. Charges were forwarded to the prosecutor for the second suspect.
Fight in the street: At about 8:40 p.m., a man reported to police that outside his house, he heard someone yell, “Get outta the car,” before he saw three individuals attack one person. The fight then spilled out onto the street. He then observed one man throw a black balaclava onto the ground, and three people fled the scene.
Jan. 11
There were zero vehicle thefts reported, and zero vehicles were recovered on this day.
Abduction and sexual assault: At about 7:35 p.m. in the 3600 block of 1st Ave. S., the victim reported that as she was walking to a friend’s home, a white work-type van pulled up next to her. The passenger of the van then grabbed her and threw her into the back portion of the van, and proceeded to sexually assault her. After the assault, the victim was dropped off near Illahee Middle School and walked back to her apartment.
Unwanted AirTag found on car: At about 8:50 p.m. in the 32000 block of 45th Ct. SW, the reporting party called to report that her phone was pinging an AirTag that she believed was placed on her vehicle. She advised that she was unable to locate the AirTag, but she believed it was placed in a panel near a wheel well because the phone pinging was strongest in that area. She does not know who or how the AirTag was placed there. Leads are exhausted at this time.
Jan. 12
There was one vehicle theft reported, and zero vehicles were recovered on this day.
15 people attempting to enter: At about 9:45 a.m., in the 27000 block of Pacific Hwy. S., there was a report that about 15 subjects, some wearing face masks, attempted to enter the establishment while the doors were locked. They were trying to pull the doors open and then kicked the doors. No damage to the establishment and the subjects did not make entry.
Masked men breaking windows: At about 3:30 p.m. in the 1200 block of S. 320th St., multiple men were seen breaking windows in the parking lot of Planet Fitness.
Man stabs drive-through speaker: At about 4:10 p.m. in the 34000 block of Pacific Hwy. S., officers responded to a threat with a weapon located at McDonald’s. The suspect was reportedly holding a knife while making a stabbing motion toward cars in the drive-through. It was later determined that the male stabbed the drive-through speaker at the McDonald’s and had stolen food. The male was taken into custody.

Furniture dumped onto private property: At about 9:20 p.m., in the 32000 block of 19th Pl .SW, there was a report that a non-resident had entered someone’s property and dumped furniture-related items onto the property. Footage was recovered of the incident.
