Federal Way police are investigating a stabbing that occurred last night after a man collapsed at the Stevenson Motel.

A 29-year-old man, who had just been stabbed, arrived at the motel (3330 Pacific Highway S., Federal Way) at approximately 9 p.m. Sunday. According to Federal Way police spokeswoman Cathy Schrock, Medic One personnel initially believed the victim’s injury was life-threatening and took him to Harborview Medical Center. There, hospital staff determined his injury was not life-threatening and he was released Monday morning.

Schrock said there’s not much information on what led to the stabbing.

“A witness reported seeing the man arrive in a vehicle and stagger toward a room at the hotel,” she said. “The occupants of that room reported that he arrived wounded, and they called police.”

A witness, who drove by the police activity last night, said there were approximately 12 police vehicles at the scene.

Schrock said the scene was contained, witnesses were interviewed and the area was canvassed before the case was turned over to investigators.

Police do not have any suspect information at this time. The Mirror will update this report as more information becomes available.
