Man demanding cigarettes strikes person on smoke break | Police blotter

Following is a sample from the Federal Way police log Feb. 9-15.

Feb. 9

Man jumped: At about 2:04 a.m. near the 2000 block of SW Campus Drive, a man said he was “jumped” by unknown subjects, though he did not remember who, how or why it happened. The man was found sitting in a parking lot. He had swelling and bruising to his face, along with a cut on his forehead. He was taken to the hospital for his injuries.

Construction site theft: At about 11:28 a.m. near the 35600 block of Enchanted Parkway South, unknown suspects broke into a construction site overnight. They stole three large spools of wire, which cost about $1,200. No suspect information.

Assault at grocery store: At about 11:23 p.m. near the 1200 block of South 320th Street, offices were dispatched to the Safeway grocery store for reports of an assault.

Feb. 10

Mobile home fire: At about 2:50 a.m. near the 3000 block of South 288th Street, officers and fire personnel responded to the Camelot Mobile Home park for reports of a vehicle fire possibly spreading to a home. Fire crews extinguished the flames and officers found possible signs of arson. Both the home and the vehicle were damaged, but there were no injuries as a result of the fire.

Unpaid service: At about 12:33 p.m. near the 1700 block of South 320th Street, a woman received $75 worth of services at a nail salon and refused to pay for the services. She then fled on foot and was not found.

Man shot: At about 2:17 p.m. near the 29800 block of Pacific Highway South, a man was dropped off at a hospital with a single gunshot wound to his leg. The man said he was shot in the thigh while sitting in a car in the SeaTac area. The injury was non-life-threatening and the King County Sheriff’s Office took over the investigation.

Feb. 11

Sexual assault: At about 1:18 a.m. near the 28700 block of Military Road South, a female victim was assaulted in a sexual manner. There was no report of injury and the suspect(s) fled the scene.

Car stolen: At about 7:09 a.m. near the 2200 block of South 312th Street, a person turned on their car to warm it up outside then left it running with the keys inside. When the person came back outside 10 minutes later, the vehicle was gone. No suspect information.

Man strikes person over cigarettes: At about 2:50 p.m. near the 23700 block of Pacific Highway South, a female employee and her manager were having a smoke break in front of the store. The employee was struck in the face by an unknown man after he demanded cigarettes from her. The suspect got onto a bus and was gone prior to police arrival.

Feb. 12

Fuel spill: At about 7:35 p.m. near the 33700 block of 21st Avenue SW, a person reported gas had been stolen from their vehicle. The fuel tank of the vehicle was damaged, resulting in a leak of approximately 12 gallons of fuel. Damage to the car totaled about $300. Fire personnel responded to clean up the spill.

Feb. 14

Stolen support doll: At about 2:09 p.m. near the 300 block of South 314th Place, a woman reported her emotional support doll was stolen.

Car break-ins: At about 9:17 a.m. near the 35000 block of Enchanted Parkway South, a person’s car window was shattered while they were at a gym class. The person’s work bag was stolen. The car parked next to the victims’ also had their window smashed and car broken into.

Feb. 15

Businesses burglarized: At about midnight near the 31800 block of Pacific highway South, officers responded to two reports of burglarized businesses. No suspects located in either incident.

Robbery with weapon: At about 10:38 a.m near the 28800 block of Military Road South, a robbery with a weapon took place while a person was walking through a parking lot. No suspects were located and the victim did not have a description of the vehicle or suspects.
