Man charged for March shooting at Federal Way gas station

He and two others fired over 50 rounds at another car parked next to a gas pump.

An arrest has been made in one of Federal Way’s more notable shootings in 2025, where, in March, at a north Federal Way gas station, three people were captured on camera firing over 50 rounds at a vehicle.

The Federal Way Police Department informed the Mirror that one suspect was arrested and charged for the March 16, 2025, Arco gas station shooting at 27202 Pacific Highway South, Federal Way. In relation to the incident, on May 2, 2025, the King County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office charged Jamonney Chavelle Green, 22, of Lakewood, with one count of first-degree assault, three counts of first-degree unlawful possession of a firearm, and one count of unlawful possession of a machine gun.

Footage of the incident was shared with the Mirror by the gas station owner, who declined to comment for safety reasons.

“It appears at this time that two subjects were at the gas station and likely recognized another subject that entered the parking lot in a vehicle,” according to FWPD Cmdr. Kyle Buchanan. “The two subjects began firing at the subject in the vehicle.”

Details of the case

According to charging documents, a King County Sheriff’s Office detective had been investigating Green since February 2025, learning through his Instagram pages that as an 11-time convicted felon, he was possessing and possibly selling firearms. At that time, Green had a warrant for his arrest because he was under Department of Corrections supervision, but he failed to attend his scheduled DOC appointments. Documents state officers were unable to locate him because it appeared he had provided a false address to the Department of Corrections, and he said he did not have a cellphone.

On Green’s Instagram page, an officer found a photo Green posted with a firearm and located the serial number in the photo. Through that, the detective found that the firearm was originally purchased at a gun store by someone who was illegally trafficking firearms, so it could be presumed Green was in possession of a real firearm. That firearm was a semiautomatic pistol that used 7.62×39 bullets.

Documents state that the detective then received an email from a Federal Way detective asking law enforcement for assistance identifying suspects in the March 16, 2025, shooting at the Arco gas station in Federal Way. The detective stated that he immediately identified the initial shooter as Green.

According to documents, in the video, at around 4 a.m., Green pulls into the gas station and parks in a parking stall, and a Hyundai then parks at a gas pump. Green is then seen speaking with a clerk through the window before one of his associates signals toward the Hyundai.

Green and his associate then began firing multiple rounds at the Hyundai, and the Hyundai began to quickly leave the gas station. Documents state that as the Hyundai left the gas station and drove past it, a third associate of Green’s exited his vehicle and also began to fire. At the same time, Green then produced what appeared to be a semiautomatic pistol and began firing toward the Hyundai as it drove away.

At the scene of the shooting, officers recovered 53 shell casings, with 35 being 9mm caliber and the other 18 being 7.62×39 caliber. Documents state that Green had posted photos with a 7.62×39 caliber pistol leading up to the shooting. Documents state that Green was further identified as being part of the shooting because his cellphone location records show that he was at the Arco gas station at the time of the shooting.

According to documents, about a month later, Green was reported to have slapped his ex-girlfriend twice and then put a pistol to her head after she broke up with him because he was using her debit card without permission. At the time he did this, three children under age 2 were in the home.

Documents state that Green was then arrested on April 24, 2025, because there were reports that a vehicle was driving around with the front passenger holding a Glock out the window. Officers stopped the vehicle, and the driver was arrested on an Auburn warrant. Green, in the passenger seat, was identified via a fingerprint scan after initially providing a false name, and was arrested.

In the vehicle, officers found a Glock handgun with an auto sear attachment that made the gun fully automatic, a 50-round Glock 10mm magazine, a 32-round Glock 10mm magazine, a 10-round Glock 10mm magazine, 81 10mm bullets and two iPhones. Documents state that Green is an 11-time convicted felon and is prohibited from possessing firearms.

According to the King County Adult and Juvenile Detention Jail lookup portal, Green is currently held on a $750,000 bail at the Maleng Regional Justice Center in Kent, awaiting trial. His next court date is a routine pre-trial hearing set for Feb. 5.
