Man, 19, injured in drive-by shooting

Officers detained the three people inside the suspect vehicle on Monday night.

A 19-year-old man was critically injured in a drive-by shooting on Monday night.

Around 10 p.m. July 4, officers responded to the 33400 block of 35th Avenue SW for reports of a shooting, said Cmdr. Kurt Schwan of the Federal Way Police Department.

Officers provided aid to the 19-year-old until fire and medic personnel arrived. The man was transported to Harborview Medical Center in critical condition, Schwan said.

Witnesses who saw where the suspect vehicle fled gave police a description of the vehicle. Another officer located and stopped the suspect vehicle leaving the area. Inside, two male occupants and one female occupant were detained without incident, Schwan said. Schwan said officers saw what they believe to be a handgun in plain view inside the vehicle.

The suspect vehicle was impounded and police are waiting on the approval of a search warrant.
