Key Bank robbery suspect eludes Federal Way police

At 3:21 p.m. Dec. 29, a robbery took place at Key Bank, 32400 Pacific Highway S. in Federal Way.

The suspect is described as a black male in his 50s wearing a Seahawks stocking cap, a navy blue jacket and glasses.

The man did not appear to be armed, police spokesman Raymond Bunk said. He whispered to a teller “give me your money” several times before fleeing with an undisclosed amount of $100 bills, Bunk said. Nobody was injured.

Police set up a perimeter and used a K-9 unit in a failed attempt to capture the suspect. Heavy traffic made locating the suspect difficult, Bunk said.

The bank robbery is the 13th to take place in 2009 and the fifth at a Federal Way Key Bank. Three of the Key Bank robberies occurred at the Twin Lakes location, 1918 S.W. Campus Drive. This is the second to take place at the Pacific Highway South location.

Police do not believe this robbery is connected to any of the other incidents, Bunk said.
