Firearm without a license: At 2:34 a.m. in the 2000 block of South 320th Street, an officer stopped someone for a traffic violation, and the driver informed the officer that his driver’s license was in his backpack, and his backpack also contained a loaded firearm. The driver stated that he did not have a concealed pistol license and gave officers permission to retrieve the firearm from the backpack. Officers ran the firearm, which showed that it belonged to the driver, and the driver had no criminal history. Due to the fact that the driver was new to Washington state, the officer warned the driver, advised him to obtain his concealed pistol license and placed the firearm unloaded in the rear of his vehicle.
73 mph: At 9:44 a.m. in the 700 block of South 320th Street, an officer stopped a vehicle that was going 73 mph in a 35 mph zone. The driver was driving without a license. No other person in the vehicle. The vehicle was impounded.
Teen stopped for shoplifting: At 3:56 p.m. in the 1200 block of South 320th Street, officers responded to a shoplifting. Loss prevention employees had detained a 14-year-old shoplifter who had a cart full of unpaid groceries. The juvenile was cooperative and well-known to the primary officer. Suspect identification and trespass forms completed.
Death threats: At 6:47 p.m. in the 36000 block of Third Avenue Southwest, someone reported that her ex-roommate had been harassing her and threatening to kill her. A statement was taken along with supporting evidence and forwarded to criminal investigations.
11-year-old assaulted: At 4:27 p.m. in the 1100 block of South Dash Point Road, the victim’s mother called and reported that her 11-year-old daughter was assaulted by another student at her school. The school would not provide the name of the suspect. The mother wished to seek a restraining order on behalf of her daughter.

Assault with a firearm report: At 3:03 p.m. in the 31000 block of Pacific Highway South, there was a report of a physical domestic and assault with a firearm.
Nap leads to stuff being stolen: At 11:18 p.m. in the 28000 block of Military Road South, someone reported that they were sleeping in their car at 7-Eleven with the window down, and when they woke up, their jacket and phone were stolen. The phone was tracking to a motel in Kent. Case pending further information.

There was one vehicle theft reported, and one vehicle was recovered on this day.
Breaking in: At 9:30 a.m. in the 100 block of Southwest Campus Drive, the reporting party stated that he wanted to trespass an unidentified male who broke into a building. The reporting party stated that he went inside the unit in the building and discovered an extended magazine that belonged to a 40 caliber rifle. The reporting party also discovered a Black male wearing all black clothing, 5’9”, medium build, who was not authorized to be in the building. Officers cleared the unit and did not find the man who the extended magazine. The case is for information only due to a lack of suspect information.

Person hit by a car: At 1:38 a.m. in the 29000 block of Redondo Way South, an officer viewed a subject in the roadway. After investigation, it was discovered that the male was walking on the roadway when a vehicle traveling northbound on Redondo Way struck the subject. The driver stated that the male threw himself in front of his vehicle. The injured subject was transported to Harborview with a possible broken hip and lacerations to his face.
Wires cut: At 1:22 p.m. in the 320000 block of 23rd Avenue South, the Washington State Department of Transportation reported that damages were estimated to be over $10,000 after 15 to 20 wires were cut from an electrical box. No suspect information
Encampment: At 2:48 p.m. in the 1100 block of South 320th Street, there was a report of an encampment. Officers contacted multiple subjects, one of whom had a warrant. The person was booked into jail.
Refusing to pay for service: At 4:13 p.m. in the 32000 block of Pacific Highway South, an employee at a nail salon called 911 because a female refused to pay for service. The employee told officers that a female and her son came into the business, and the mother got a pedicure and the son got a manicure. The employee told the mother how much the services would cost, but she refused to pay and left in an unknown vehicle.
Missing narcotics: At 3:59 p.m. in the 1000 block of South 308th Street, a medical facility told an officer that they suspected possible diversion of narcotics because paperwork regarding narcotics destruction had discrepancies. Two involved employees were contacted. The first employee said that she did not know what they were referring to, and the second did not pick up the phone. Both of those employees have since resigned.

Burglary: At 9:18 a.m. in the 2500 block of South 286th Place, there was a report of a burglary.
Spray-paint: At 4:42 p.m. on Southwest 356th Street, a learning center between Jan. 9 and 10, had “FURAD” (fraud) spray-painted on the side of the building. It is unknown if the current political climate is to blame, however, the reporting party had a suspicion of who the suspect could be. There is no irrefutable evidence proving that they are the suspect, therefore she remains a person of interest.
Juvenile asking for cigarettes: At 11:13 p.m. on 11th Place South, the victim stated that a juvenile asked him for a cigarette. The victim stated that during her interaction with the juvenile, the juvenile pointed a firearm at them. Probable cause for second-degree assault established. Officers were unable to locate suspects or cameras.

There was one vehicle theft reported, and zero vehicles were recovered on this day.
Possible drunk driver: At 4:33 a.m. on Pacific Highway South, officers were dispatched to a passerby reporting concerning driving behavior potentially being a result of a DUI. An area check revealed the vehicle parked at the registered owner’s address, and the driver appeared to be sleeping behind the wheel. Contact was made, and probable cause to arrest the driver for physical control was found.

There was one vehicle theft reported, and two vehicles were recovered on this day.
Fences cut before burglary: At 8:14 a.m. on South 356th Street, officers were dispatched for a burglary. An employee showed officers that two different fences on the north side of the business were cut. Surveillance footage was reviewed, and it was found that a subject had approached the area on foot. Further leads could not be established.
Harassment: At 10:38 a.m. on 21st Avenue Southwest, officers responded to a report of a threat with a weapon. The suspect was detained, but later released after independent witnesses were interviewed. The case was forwarded to the prosecutors office for review.
Stolen firearms: At 1:13 p.m. on South 286th Street, a woman reported that she had two of her semiautomatic pistols stolen.
