Hoofing it for the Homeless: Helping men with winter shelter

The Reach Out FW Homeless Men’s Winter Shelter Team “Hoofed It For The Homeless” and raised over $3,000 to help run a winter shelter from November 2009 through February 2010. They need more money to remain open during March 2010. More than $85,000 of in-kind donations were contributed by the Federal Way community last January-March to help care for the homeless men during that winter shelter period.

Steel Lake Presbyterian and Calvary Lutheran Church will be hosting the men on a rotating basis with many other Federal Way area churches and volunteers donating and cooking meals and serving the men during the winter. Each night, men who have been screened into the shelter by the staff of the Multi-Service Center will have overnight shelter and receive three meals every day of the week. Reach Out partners with the Multi-Service Center. Reach Out still needs financial support to help pay the salaries of the overnight supervisors and professional counselors.
