July 1

There was one vehicle theft reported, and zero vehicles were recovered on this day.

Arson: At 9:17 p.m. in the 32000 block of 20th Lane SW, there was a report that officers responded to a vehicle fire. As officers arrived on the scene, the victim stated that she believed the vehicle had been intentionally set on fire by someone she had an order against. A witness stated that prior to the car being engulfed in flames, she observed a male subject standing next to the vehicle.

July 2

There were two vehicle thefts reported, and one vehicle was recovered on this day.

Hitchhikers rob man: At 12:51 a.m. in the 1300 block of S. 308th Street, there was a report that a man was on his way home from a tavern when he decided to provide some strangers a ride home. The man arrived in Federal Way and, upon dropping off the suspects, the suspects assaulted him and stole his rental vehicle. The man left his phone and firearm in the car. The victim suffered injuries and was taken to the hospital. The case was forwarded to the criminal investigations unit.

$14,000 lost in online scam: At 10:05 a.m., a man reported that he received an email stating that he owed money for a service to a company. The man said that he called the company, which then said that they accidentally sent him $14,000, and they asked if he could return it by depositing funds into a Bitcoin ATM. The man did so, but then he realized that he had never been accidentally sent $14,000, and that he had sent his own money through the Bitcoin ATM.

Door shot with a BB gun: At 10:31 a.m. in the 29000 block of 9th Place S., a woman reported that she heard a loud bang at her home and discovered that her sliding glass door had been shattered. The woman said that she then located two BBs. No witnesses or suspects.

Brandishing a gun: At 1:12 p.m. in the 2200 block of S. Star Lake Road, there was a report that someone attempted to assault a victim, and then another suspect brandished a gun at the victim. The suspect who tried to assault the victim was detained, but the suspect who brandished the gun was not located.

Missing firearm: At 4:27 p.m. in the 29000 block of Pacific Highway S., there was a report from a man who stated that his firearm was missing. The man said that he usually kept his firearm in the side panel of his driver’s side door. The man said the car hasn’t been broken into, and the gun could have fallen out when the door was opened. The firearm was entered as missing.

July 3

There were zero vehicle thefts reported, and zero vehicles were recovered on this day.

Eluding police: At 1:05 a.m. on Pacific Highway S. and S. 320th St., there was a report that officers located an occupied stolen vehicle and a traffic stop was initiated. The vehicle failed to stop, and a short pursuit ensued.

Ex-boyfriend: At 5:57 a.m. in the 1900 block of SW Campus Drive, there was a report that an ex-boyfriend forced his way into the victim’s apartment. He has never lived there. He kicked in the bedroom door after the female in the home retreated and locked it. The suspect assaulted the female and forcibly took their 22-month-old child. The man fled with the child, but was later apprehended by the Kent Police Department.

July 4

There were zero vehicle thefts reported, and zero vehicles were recovered on this day.

Reckless driver: At 1:30 a.m. in the 34000 block of Pacific Highway S., there was a report that a car driving recklessly was stopped. Probable cause was then found for a firearms violation, and the gun was also found to be stolen. The vehicle was impounded.

Narcan administered: At 1:11 p.m. in the 31000 block of Pacific Highway S., there was a report that officers were flagged down for an overdose. Officers administered one dose of Narcan. The subject regained consciousness, but declined aid.

Arson: At 3:10 p.m. in the 32000 block of Celebration Park Road, there was a report that smoke was seen coming from the BPA Trail, and the fire department was already on the scene of a large brush fire. Footage was found from the area that showed a subject running up to the area, throwing a firework and then running away.

July 5

There was one vehicle theft reported, and one vehicle was recovered on this day.

Reckless burning: At 12:16 p.m. in the 900 block of S. 315th Street, there was a report from someone who said grass was smoldering on her property. The fire was quickly extinguished. The reporting party suspects it was two juveniles because a witness reported seeing two juveniles running from the property earlier that day.

Illegal discharge: At 12:48 p.m. on 7th Way SW and SW Campus Drive, there was a report that a weapon was illegally discharged.

July 6

There was one vehicle theft reported, and one vehicle was recovered on this day.

Missing catalytic converter: At 12:34 p.m. in the 31000 block of 33rd Place SW, someone reported that their catalytic converter was missing from their RV. The reporting party stated that the RV was parked in a gated location and they had last seen the catalytic converter on their RV on March 22.

Shot at on the highway: At 5:49 p.m. on Enchanted Parkway S. and S. 348th Street, a man reported that he was driving on State Route 18 and he was shot at. The man said he was not injured. The case was sent to Washington State Patrol for further investigation.

July 7

There were zero vehicle thefts reported, and zero vehicles were recovered on this day.

Rock thrown through window: At 2:35 a.m. in the 31000 block of Pacific Highway S., there was a report that a male threw a rock through the hotel window. The subject was described as a skinny light-skinned male, about 5’7” and in his 30s with a white beanie, gray shirt and gray pants. The damage was estimated at about $2,500. No suspect could be located.

Firearm assault: At 5:06 a.m. in the 28000 block of Pacific Highway S., there was a report of a shooting with injuries. Two victims were treated at the scene. One was transported to a medical facility with non-life-threatening injuries. Three possible male suspects are at large.

July 8

Dog in hot car: At 3:20 p.m. in the 35000 block of Enchanted Parkway S., there was a report of a dog in a hot car. An infraction was issued.
