A partnership of state organizations that include the Innovate Washington Foundation, Washington Department of Commerce, Impact Washington, Workforce Training and Education Coordinating Board, Washington State University, Highline College and Shoreline Community College announce their collaboration to deliver the Make it in Washington initiative.

Make it in Washington is a federal grant targeting manufacturers in qualified counties with a goal of increasing manufacturing capacity, strengthening supply chains, attracting investment and creating new opportunities for manufacturers and individuals. Make it in Washington is a three-year grant that will deliver services through 2016.

“We are very pleased to be a partner in this Make it in Washington initiative,” said Meg Ryan, director of the Center of Excellence for Global Trade and Supply Chain Management at Highline College. “One of the ways that Washington State’s community and technical colleges promote economic growth is by creating value in workforce development by delivering accessible and affordable education and technical training to residents and incumbent workers in manufacturing companies.”

The Make it in Washington grant was one of 10 awards made nationwide as part of the federal Make it in America Challenge. The Make it in America Challenge was created to further the Obama Administration’s efforts to help protect and create American manufacturing jobs.
