Highline College has received the 2015 Higher Education Excellence in Diversity Award from Insight Into Diversity magazine, the oldest and largest diversity-focused publication in higher education, for the third consecutive year.

“Highline is honored to receive this award for the third year in a row and to be recognized for our commitment to diversity and the work we do every day on our campus,” said Highline President Jack Bermingham. “Diversity is more than a program or an initiative at Highline; it is the soul of our institution.”

As a recipient of the annual award — an honor recognizing U.S. colleges and universities that demonstrate an outstanding commitment to diversity and inclusion — Highline will be featured along with 91 other recipients in Insight Into Diversity magazine’s November 2015 issue.

Insight Into Diversity magazine selected recipients based on diversity and inclusion initiatives, and ability to embrace a broad definition of diversity on campus, including gender, race, ethnicity, veterans, people with disabilities and members of the lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender community.

Highline is the most diverse college in Washington and was one of only two colleges in the state, and the only community college in Washington, to receive the 2015 Higher Education Excellence in Diversity Award.
