Following is a sample from the Federal Way police log:

• Graffiti mars local park: At 4:39 p.m. Sept. 30 in the 5000 block of SW Dash Point Road, a park patron called to inform police of a graffiti spree that had taken place inside Palisades Park. According to the report, the graffiti included “penises, 420, weed, KKK, swastikas, Federal Way sucks,” along with racist statements, and statements against the police and God. The total damage is estimated at $5,000.

• Come for the fight, stay for the food: At 2:09 a.m. Sept. 29 in the 2400 block of SW 336th Street, a fight erupted between people in two separate cars at a drive-thru lane of a fast food restaurant. By the time the police arrived, the fight had ended, but the report notes that at least one group had stayed and was in the process of still getting their food.

• Bail on your buddy?: At 3:28 a.m. Sept. 29 in the 100 block of SW Campus Drive, two men attempted to steal a 12-pack of Corona beer. According to the report, when one suspect was held and detained by store employees, the other suspect attempted to take the beer and flee.

• Starbucks trip is really expensive: At 9:52 a.m. Sept. 29 in the 33000 block of 21st Avenue SW, a woman reported that her car was broken into and a bag containing approximately $600 worth of personal belongings was stolen. According to the report, the woman had stopped at Starbucks and was out of her vehicle for 10 minutes or so.

• Husband goes AWOL: At 1:05 p.m. Sept. 29 in the 34000 block of 2nd Lane South, a woman contacted police to say she had been unable to get a hold of her husband for a number of days. According to the report, the husband had left for a business trip to Oregon, and had not been heard from since. The report notes that there was some belief the man may have been heading toward northern California.

• Car prowl fail: At 2:30 p.m. Sept. 30 in the 1500 block of SW 356th Street, the victim’s car was broken into and an empty canvas bag was stolen.

• Bait and switch: At 5:32 a.m. Sept. 30 in the 35000 block of Enchanted Parkway South, a man entered a restaurant and ordered a drink. According to the report, the man asked the waitstaff to change five $20 bills he had for a $100 bill. The waitstaff complied with the man’s request. Shortly thereafter, the man disappeared from the restaurant, and restaurant staff determined that three of the $20 bills were counterfeit.

• If at first you don’t succeed…: At 12:13 p.m. Sept. 29 in the 35000 block of Enchanted Parkway South, a woman had stolen an unspecified quantity of alcohol from a store earlier in the day. The woman attempted a second theft, but was unsuccessful because of her inability to adequately conceal the large bottle of alcohol she chose for the second theft.

• Daughters fight: At 2:16 p.m. Sept. 29 in the 28000 block of 23rd Place South, a mother contacted police over her 17- and 12-year-old daughters fighting. According to the report, the mother had asked for South King Fire and Rescue to be dispatched to treat the 12-year-old. The report notes that the 17-year-old daughter had worse injuries, although the report notes that the injuries suffered by both girls were very minor.

• Residence stripped of copper wiring: At 2:29 p.m. Sept. 29 in the 35000 block of Pacific Highway South, the owner of a rental home reported that the house was broken into, and that a large quantity of copper wiring was removed from the house.
