The department reported that on Jan. 24, officers from the special operations unit and special investigation unit conducted a drug emphasis operation in the city’s downtown area. FWPD reports that the operation resulted in eight arrests for knowingly using a controlled substance in a public place.
FWPD officers also seized more than 100 suspected fentanyl pills and several grams of suspected methamphetamine.
“In 2024, drug-related arrests in Federal Way were up by 339%,” FWPD reported. “Operations like these contribute to that positive trend as FWPD remains committed to keeping our community safe.”
