Rod Leland, the district’s facilities director, updated the school board on the upcoming construction of the new Federal Way High School, which is slated to be completed in 2017.

The first public input session is scheduled for 6 to 8 p.m. Jan. 31 at the Federal Way Public Schools Support Services Center, 1211 S. 332nd Ave.

Students, staff, parents and community members are all welcome to join this discussion about the location of the new Federal Way High School.

Three possible sites for the new building have been identified on the current Federal Way High School property. The public is invited to come hear more about these sites and give feedback. This session will help inform the superintendent’s recommendation to the school board for the final building site.

“It’s now time to select one of those sites,” Leland said. “We need to have a conversation about one of these.”

Selecting a site will allow the district to start construction on a retention pond this summer. Leland hopes to send the retention pond out to bid during the spring.
