FW Rotary donates $1,000 to battle human trafficking

From staff reports:

Federal Way Coalition Against Trafficking (FWCAT) was organized in Federal Way a little over a year ago with a mission to eliminate human trafficking in our region through community awareness.

FWCAT provides opportunities for community members to learn and share their knowledge about and experiences with human trafficking.

They advocate for justice by using their voice and influence to hold government and law enforcement accountable for creating strong anti-trafficking laws and implementing them effectively so that prosecution can take place.

Federal Way Rotary enthusiastically supports agencies like this, which have as their mission to eliminate injustice and improve quality of life for all our citizens. In recognition of this, the Federal Way Rotary Club has made a grant of $1,000 to FWCAT.

The presentation was made at the Advancing Leadership’s meeting held at Weyerhaeuser’s Corporate Headquarters.

The setting and the timing were appropriate because Advancing Leadership is now planning the “Break the Chain: Walk/Bike/Scoot” fundraiser and event, in support of FWCAT’s objectives, to take place on May 18 at the Federal Way Farmers Market.
