Firefighters snuff Federal Way house fire | Update

Firefighters reported no injuries in a Federal Way house fire that occurred Friday afternoon.

South King Fire and Rescue responded to the fire, located in the 34900 block of 11th Court Southwest, at approximately 3:40 p.m.

Deputy Chief Gordy Goodsell said there was a fire was contained to the bedroom but crews were able to extinguish it.

Goodsell said fortunately one male occupant was awake and closed the bedroom door, limiting the fire from spreading. However, he noted the house did not have a working fire alarm, “which is a concern.”

The cause of the fire is undetermined, but Goodsell estimates it caused $5,000 in damages.
