A 20-year-old female died after her vehicle hit a semi truck on Thursday morning in Federal Way.

Cearra Dillard was driving westbound on State Route 18 at Weyerhaeuser Way South around 4 a.m. when she struck the back trailer of a logging truck. The front end of her 2014 Kia Soul was damaged by impact, according to a release by the Washington State Patrol.

Dillard was rushed to Harborview Medical Center in critical condition where she later died.

Washington State Patrol reported the incident is currently being investigated as a hit-and-run because the semi truck did not stop, but they do not know if the driver of the truck was aware of the hit. Police believe the trailer on the semi truck might be missing and the mud flap may have damages to the body of it.

Troopers are searching for the truck driver.
