Federal Way to host Speedo Winter Junior Nationals this week

More than 1,100 of the nation’s top up-and-coming swimmers will compete for national titles beginning Wednesday at USA Swimming’s 2014 Speedo Winter Junior National Championships in Federal Way, Washington, at the Weyerhaeuser King County Aquatic Center.

More than 1,100 of the nation’s top up-and-coming swimmers will compete for national titles beginning Wednesday at USA Swimming’s 2014 Speedo Winter Junior National Championships in Federal Way, Washington, at the Weyerhaeuser King County Aquatic Center.

USA Swimming will provide a live webcast of the entire meet at usaswimming.org.

The short-course yards meet opens Wednesday with a relay-only session at 6 p.m. Thursday through Saturday, prelims will be held at 9 a.m. followed by finals at 5 p.m. Tickets are required for all sessions and can be purchased online now or at the venue during the event.

Among the athletes expected to compete in Federal Way are 2014 Pan Pacific Championships and FINA Short Course World Championships team member Abbey Weitzeil (Saugus, Calif.), 2014 Youth Olympic Games participants Patrick Mulcare (Tigard, Ore.) and Courtney Mykkanen (Tustin, Calif.) and Ella Eastin (Irvine, Calif.) and Sean Grieshop (Cedar Park, Texas), who recently represented Team USA at a pair of FINA World Cup events.

In addition, a number of members of Team USA for the 2014 Junior Pan Pacific Championships such as rising stars Michael Andrew (Lawrence, Kansas) and Stanzi Moseley (Bakersfield, Calif.) are also expected to swim.
