From staff reports:

On Dec. 11, Federal Way police took a theft report from victim Ben Nelson, who lives at 2103 S. 324th St. in the Belmor Mobile Home Park.

Nelson reported that his golf cart was stolen from in front of his residence. Video footage recorded a suspect’s vehicle leaving the park with his golf cart in tow.

The license plate on the suspect’s vehicle was obstructed. However, a police officer was able to decipher the license plate.

The victim then found his golf cart for sale on Craigslist. Federal Way detectives contacted the suspect through Craigslist and set up a meeting to purchase the golf cart in Thurston County.

The 54-year-old male suspect arrived at the location, driving the same van and trailer that he allegedly used to steal the golf cart. Posing as potential buyers, the detectives met with the suspect and verified that the golf cart was the same one that was reported stolen.

Federal Way police took the suspect into custody without incident. The cart was photographed and returned to the victim in Federal Way.
