School board retreat

The Federal Way School Board is scheduled for a retreat 1 to 7 p.m. Feb. 26 at the EX3 Ron Sandwith Teen Center, 31453 28th Ave. S. The board is scheduled to discuss “Boards that Make a Difference,” strategic plan, budget philosophy and self-evaluation. To learn more, call (253) 945-2266.

Brigadoon coin drive

Brigadoon Elementary School raised $225 in four days in support of the Red Cross. The money will go toward families who lost their homes and belongings in the winter floods. Call (253) 945-2424.

TJ speech competition

Thomas Jefferson High School qualified 32 out of a possible 36 entries in the state speech competition this year, a school record. Call (253) 945-5600.

Free SAT review

DeVry University in Federal Way is sponsoring a free SAT preparatory review, which will be taught by university professors. The course will prepare students to take the SAT 1 mathematics and verbal reasoning exam. The review runs 8 a.m. to 4:15 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 28, at the Federal Way campus, 3600 S. 344th Way.
