Federal Way Rotary Clubs awards $20k in scholarships

Every year, the Federal Way Rotary Club awards scholarships to graduating high school seniors based on their financial need, scholastic achievements, leadership skills and service to the community. This year, the Federal Way Rotary awarded over $20,000 to 20 Federal Way high school students at its luncheon on May 26.

Every year, the Federal Way Rotary Club awards scholarships to graduating high school seniors based on their financial need, scholastic achievements, leadership skills and service to the community. This year, the Federal Way Rotary awarded over $20,000 to 20 Federal Way high school students at its luncheon on May 26.

The Rotary Scholarship Class of 2016 includes Dayoung Cheong and Amaria Means from Decatur High School; Mikayla Arsenian, Andrea Diep, Malama Mataese, Andrea Palomin, Bryle Villanueva, Cieon White, Bradley Willford and Tiffani Willoughby from Federal Way High School; Warren Jacobs from Technology Access Foundation (TAF); Hanna Hurskin from Thomas Jefferson High School; Michelle Boyer, Leslie Gomez, Delandis Israel, Andrew Kamau, Selena Krivoruchko and Stephanie Sin from Todd Beamer High School; and Dinh Chung and Kevin Villalobos-Gomez from Truman High School.

The Federal Way Rotary Club has been awarding scholarships to Federal Way high school students for over 30 years.

“Helping the Federal Way parents and their children follow their dreams is one of the greatest gifts I receive from my community service and commitment as a Rotarian,” said Robert McKenzie, the Scholarship Committee chair for the Federal Way Rotary Club. “The Rotary Scholarship Class of 2016 is an impressive group of high-potential students who have promising futures.”

Since 1969, the Federal Way Rotary Club has helped the community by providing scholarships and supporting local organizations, including the Community Caregiving Network, Reach Out, the Federal Way Boys & Girls Club, FUSION, and the Multi-Service Center.
