Federal Way Rotary awards $20,000 in scholarships

Every year, the Federal Way Rotary Club awards scholarships to graduating high school seniors based on their financial need, scholastic achievements, leadership skills and service to the community.

Every year, the Federal Way Rotary Club awards scholarships to graduating high school seniors based on their financial need, scholastic achievements, leadership skills and service to the community.

This year, the Federal Way Rotary presented more than $20,000 in scholarships to the following 19 graduating seniors from the Federal Way school district: Decatur: Nicole Ichinaga, Gianluca Vaccarini, Dain Yoshizumi, Devin Yoshizumi, Shawntel Bali; Federal Way: Emily Johnson, Olivia Lawson, Carolina Sanchez, Essence White, Raegan Clark; Todd Beamer: McKenna Hendrix, Vy Pham, Danalyn Fernandez, Christopher Onorati; Truman: Pedro Hernandez, Jessica Llamas, Hsin (Amy) Hsieh; Thomas Jefferson: Chris Kim, Jina Yi.

The Federal Way Rotary Club has been awarding scholarships to Federal Way High School students for more than 30 years.

“Helping the Federal Way parents and their children follow their dreams is one of the greatest gifts I receive from my community service and commitment as a Rotarian,” said scholarship committee chair Robert McKenzie. “The Rotary Scholarship Class of 2014 is an impressive group of high-potential students who have promising futures.”
