Federal Way Public Schools to extend meals for kids through spring break

The Federal Way Public Schools’ “grab-and-go” meals, including breakfast and lunch, will be offered at 21 various sites through April 24.

Federal Way Public Schools recently announced the district will provide continuous meal service for kids throughout spring break.

Spring break is scheduled for April 6-10, and during this time, “grab-and-go” meals will be available at all 21 school and community locations throughout the city.

In addition, FWPS recently partnered local faith-based leaders to enhance meals and food support in hard to reach areas.

Superintendent Campbell met with faith-based organizations who reached out to the district asking how they could help students and families.

“We are grateful for the following faith-based organizations who are supporting efforts to get food to students and families at 10 apartment communities beyond the perimeter of Federal Way Public Schools’ 21 meal program sites,” the district wrote in a March 24 press release.

The organizations include One Hope Foursquare, Christ the, King Bible Fellowship, Integrity Life Church, World Vision, Family Life Community Church, Journey Church, Grace Church, Christ’s Church, Brooklake Church and Soma Federal Way.

The meals are available Monday through Friday at no cost for children ages 18 and under during the school closure.

Funded by the United States Department of Agriculture, each child may receive two free meals: one breakfast and one lunch.

“Grab-and-go” meals are available through April 24, and are available Monday through Friday.
