A convicted felon is accused of beating a friend’s toddler after a party at his house in Federal Way.

Nicolas Adrian Perdomo has been charged with second-degree assault of a child and possession of a stolen firearm. Upon his arrest, police report finding a large quantity of marijuana with scales and baggies.

On Feb. 21, Federal Way police responded to a call from St. Francis Hospital for a child abuse case. The 3-year-old victim had extensive bruising and swelling to his face, neck and body, according to a police report. The child was eventually treated for a fracture.

The boy’s mother told police she only knew the suspect as “Nic” and that his last name started with a “P.” The day before, she went to Perdomo’s house, located near Sherwood Forest Elementary School, to party and smoke marijuana. She fell asleep on the couch and awoke in the morning to discover marks on her child’s face, reports said.

When Perdomo came out, the boy began to cry and said “don’t hit me,” according to the report. Later that morning, she heard a loud noise and went to check on the child, and found the crying child lying on the floor with Perdomo in the bedroom, according to the report.

The mother told police she did not witness an assault, but that Perdomo appeared angry that the boy woke him up. When she asked about the bruising on the child’s face, Perdomo told her the boy threw himself against the wall, and later said the boy might have fallen over a toy, according to the report.

After they left Perdomo’s residence, the boy told his mother that Perdomo hit him and stepped on his stomach, according to the report. When officers arrived at the emergency room, the child’s eye had swollen shut.

In an interview with Federal Way police, Perdomo said he had never touched the boy. When asked about the marks on the boy’s face, Perdomo told police he believed that they were just marks from the bed covers. He told police the 9 mm pistol found in his dresser drawer had been purchased on Craigslist.

Perdomo was convicted in 2007 for violation of the Uniform Controlled Substance Act, and was convicted in 2009 and 2011 for possession of marijuana.

Bail is set at $100,000 and his arraignment is set for March 11 at the Regional Justice Center in Kent.
