Federal Way police searching for man they say shot, kidnapped victims

Federal Way police are searching for a man accused of shooting a man and kidnapping a woman, Feb. 19.

Detectives believe Ivan Alfonso Sosa Aquinaga, 23, shot a 50-year-old man in a vehicle multiple times after kidnapping his girlfriend and forcing her to point out the address of an ex-boyfriend.

Police responded to the shooting at 2 a.m. in the parking lot of the Pavillion Apartment Homes, 1900 S.W. Campus Drive.

There, they found the 50-year-old man with multiple gunshot wounds, who was transported to Harborview Medical Center with life-threatening injuries. He has since been stabilized and is expected to survive.

According to Federal Way police spokeswoman Cathy Schrock, detectives learned the man who was shot was the father of Aquinaga’s girlfriend’s former boyfriend. The suspect allegedly drove his girlfriend east, releasing her in Sunnyside, Washington. She was not injured.

“The suspect is named and pictured prior to the filing of formal charges due to the seriousness of this crime,” Schrock said in a news release.

Aquinaga is associated with a GMC short bed pickup truck with the Oregon license 836HMD, which was recovered in Moses Lake on Feb. 20.

There is currently a temporary felony warrant for Aquinaga’s arrest for first-degree assault and kidnapping, pending formal charges by the King County prosecutor.

The suspect should be considered armed and dangerous. Federal Way police encourage anyone with information regarding this incident to call 911 or submit an anonymous tip at https://safecityfw.com.
