Federal Way police chased a truck thief from Home Depot (1715 S. 352nd St.) on Monday afternoon.

Police spokeswoman Cathy Schrock said the suspect sideswiped a patrol vehicle, causing damage, during the getaway. Home Depot may have been put on lockdown, according to Schrock, but the Mirror was unable to confirm that with the business.

Federal Way police fired 40 mm less-lethal rubber bullets to break out the window of the stolen car to get a better view of the suspect, a standard procedure of force, after the suspect ignored officers’ commands to exit the truck, according to police officials.

The suspect drove eastbound on Highway 18 from Enchanted Parkway and then exited near the Weyerhaeuser campus. King County Sheriff’s Office officers would later find the vehicle abandoned in the 34200 block of 46th Ave. S. in Auburn.

A K-9 track was conducted, but detectives couldn’t find the suspect and no arrest was made.
